YVES SAINT LAURENT: The Perfection of Style

This month the Seattle Art Museum opened the highly anticipated exhibit from legendary fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. The Perfection of Style features over 100 haute couture and Saint Laurent Rive Gauche garments as well as accessories, photographs, drawings and films from the Pierre Bergé Foundation including new acquisitions that have never before been shown to the public. The exhibition chronicles Saint Laurent's journey from his early days at Dior through the groundbreaking designs of the sixties and seventies up to his retirement in 2002.

Over his 44-year career Yves Saint Laurent (1936-2008) completely demonstrated the power of style and how his work enlightened beyond the ephemeral fluctuations of fashion is unmatched. YSL was more than a visionary couturier, he built a world of unique creativity and originality that many desired but only few could properly attain. The Perfection of Style allows you to experience this world in intimate detail peeking inside the creative process of Saint Laurent. From first sketch to fabric selection and final production, you get to chance to experience the evolution of a garment and the world he built. From start to finish, the exhibit is intimate in nature and impeccably curated creating a rare and personal experience for visitors.
