Fall/Winter 2018

For Fall/Winter 2018 menswear designer Carlos Campos looked to Mexico’s charro culture for inspiration. Cowboy boots, silk, pipe trimmed shirting and exaggerated collars went down the runway as Whoopi Goldberg, Young Paris, Emery Kelly, Ricky Garcia, and Fern Mallis watched from front row. High waist pleated pants caught the attention of many, shown in corduroy, wool and silk while check paneled shirting brought a contemporary twist to the collection. Outwear in all its vast incarnations is typically a strong suit for Campos and the designer made it clear fro F/W 2018. Oversized cape inspired outwear trimmed with silk piping were shown in various color ways but the piece de resistance was the short jacket with silk piping, exaggerated collar and bead work that really captured the spirit of the collection.

CARLOS CAMPOS SPRING/SUMMER 2018

Spring/Summer 2018

For designer Carlos Campos, it was back to basics for Spring/Summer 2018.  Recapturing the true essence of the brand, this season Campos drew inspiration from the legendary Mexican architect Luis Barragán.  Known for his clean lines and bold use of color, Barragán's style translates well into Campos' "minimalist aesthetic and it's dedication to adding Latin twists to American classics."

With sharp lines and geometric silhouettes, this season was a review of where Campos has been and a forecast of where he is going.  Graphic print tees in black and white and mason red counterfeit Cuervo sweatshirts made bold statements on the runway along side belted shorts and long line coats. Though the biggest statement made was Campos' usage of color.  Color balance is a fine turned art especially when we are in a era of fashion where designers want to use every color in the rainbow at once. Knowing when to mute a red with a simple beige or mixing electric blue with black and white in a way that's its not intimidating to every man, takes a lot of skill.  A skill that obviously runs deep in the DNA of the designer and his brand.

Campos' Fall 2017 collection was about muted earth tones and abstract color blocking.  Playing with seam lines to create bold statements in rich mustard and dark grey with oversized canopy print separates. Campos took us on a journey through his vision of relaxed and reworked men's essentials which are signature to Campos' line. This season colorful bombers and shirting with oversized pockets walked the runway in exaggerated lengths. Making the strongest statement were Campos' reworked outerwear. Robe-like silhouettes in an array of fits and colors dominated the runway adding formality and slight structure to the collection.
