Eric Rutherford

On the Front Line: Eric Rutherford and Johannes Huebl

The past two seasons of New York Fashion Week: Men's have seen exponential growth since it's inaugural Spring/Summer 2016 season. With that has come stronger support from the menswear community and its leading figures. Two of our favorites are Eric Rutherford (@mrrutherford9) and Johannes Huebl (@johanneshuebl). With great style and charisma, these handsome gentlemen have served as CFDA ambassadors to help build the foundation of men's week and assist with bringing proper media attention to featured designers. For this we say thank you! Here are some favorite #NYFWM moments from Johannes and Mr. Rutherford.

#NYFWM: Zachary Prell

By the end of Fashion Week one can be mentally worn out and physically exhausted. From running back and forth between shows, outfit changes and constant sensory overload, because it's only twice a year you push yourself through the chaos for fear of missing out. The last show of my trip was Zachary Prell, a menswear designer known for his classic American sportswear and contemporary fit. The presentation with its beautiful cast of models and shipwrecked school boy vibes was a refreshing take on modern American style. Long haired agents of fortune wearing make-shift headbands with perfectly disheveled styling and bronzed skin gave the collection a story line that drew you into the inspiration behind Prell's vision for the Spring. New York based menswear leans so strongly towards the street-wear sector that its traditional counterpart often gets overlooked and Prell offers a fashionably deluxe option for that client.

Havana Nights with River, Sebastian and Frankie at Nick Graham

For Spring/Summer Nick Graham took us on a trip to tropical Havana! Last Wednesday, at nine in the morning, the designer hosted one of the most exhilarating and vivacious shows during NYFW: Men's. Complete with carnival dancers and an in-house salsa band, the hybrid presentation/runway show ended in a dance party with the designer himself pulling audience members onto the runway.  It was a celebration that included surprise runway guest Frankie Grande and supermodels River Viiperi and Sebastian Sauve. Bill Nye, yes that science guy, strolled down the runway with Amanda Roseberg on arm to join the revelry, while CFDA ambassador Eric Rutherford watched from the sidelines. It was an amazing experience that I am still replaying in my head a week later. Review to follow.

Kellan Lutz, Shaun White at Robert Geller Spring/Summer Runway Show

Robert Geller's runway show is always one of the most anticipated of New York Fashion Week: Men's. Know for his excellent styling, thematic set design and stellar collections, Geller's invite is one of the most coveted of the week. This is the third season we have been lucky enough to snag an invite and this season was his biggest show to date! Attendees included: Kellan Lutz, Shaun White, Eric Rutherford, Nathan McCallum, and Nick Wooster. The collection was filled with silks, leopard, and polaroid accents that made us want to race through winter to next Spring so we can wear this latest collection. Bravo Mr. Geller! Review to follow.
